This summer is chock full of fairy tale retellings! My short story "Jacinta and the Cornstalk" will be featured in the upcoming Spellbound anthology from Eggplant Literary Productions.
Actually, it's technically a special edition of Spellbound, a fantasy magazine featuring stories for young readers. (And each issue, including the special edition anthology issue, comes with a free lesson plan, so that's kind of awesome. I'm a teacher myself, so of course I can get behind a magazine that aims to provide great fantasy literature for young people AND supports teachers in finding ways to use fantasy lit in the classroom.)
Even cooler, the anthology consists of fairy tales retold to include characters from diverse perspectives and backgrounds, including people of color, people with disabilities, and QUILTBAG people.
Anyhow, the Spellbound anthology is being released as both an e-book and a limited edition hardcover, and preorders are happening right now.
There's also a companion adult anthology called Spindles, which is a little longer and features stories that (presumably) are better suited for adult readers. You won't find me or the lesson plan there, but if you like the premise of Spellbound, you might want to check out the companion book, too.
